Today marks the 20th anniversary of 9/11
It's hard to believe it has been 20 years - and although so much time has passed no one has forgotten the events that occurred on that horrific day. Many of us can close our eyes and picture where we were that day - what we were doing - who we were with all before our worlds began to shatter. This day will always be etched into our minds for so many reasons. It was more than the twin towers falling, it was more than disaster striking New York and Shanksville. People were robbed from us - taken and to never be returned. Our people were deliberately separated from us permanently. It was not of their own accord the things that endured. They weren't allowed the chance to finish their breakfast, or their day, or their hour, or their minute because someone else decided it was their right to take that from them! From us! We lost mothers, fathers, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents, friends. We lost our people. It was a terrible, terrible tragedy. Just absolutely horrific. I can't even imagine being in their shoes. But God Bless them they were so brave when it was all happening. All the people in the twin towers, all the people in the airliners - flight 11 and flight 175, all the people in flight 77, all the people in flight 93, all the people in the streets below, all the hospital and ambulance staff, all the fire fighters and police officers. They are heroes - almost 3,000 heroes that live on in spirit here with us everyday. I can still picture it - the slow motion of my body dropping to the floor as I watched one of the commercial airliners hit one of the twin towers from the television. At home you feel like you're a safe distant away but your not because you are so impacted by it. Your heart is shattering right there with everyone. You're watching in horror and disbelief but you're partially living it too. Suddenly you can't breathe, you're scared and shaking. Suddenly I am in a loss for words crying all over again as I continue to watch the television today. RIP our family && friends - we will continue to keep you safe - rest knowingly that you and your memory will live on in our hearts forever and we will keep you alive with us. With love && sadness <3 Rest in peace 9/11 heroes Comments are closed.
